Advice to Learners
A while ago, I received an email asking for advice for students. I believe the points below are most compatible with self-determined learning. Anyway these are the most sincere points of advice I can give. They probably mean more for me than for you, but maybe you will appreciate them.
- Truth is where there are no incentives.
- Your subjectivity is more interesting than it may seem and is probably non-transferable.
- Be aware of when, why and where you seek confirmation with respect to the points 1-2.
- Your limits are what enables your being. There is no point in being conscious if you can encompass everything (paradoxically).
- There is no education other than self-education.
- Learning can take different forms.
- Learning might have more to do with filtering out the unimportant.
- Paradoxes are something you can get rid of or embrace.
